Internal Logistics Solution for Brd. Klee

The Challenge

Brd. Klee sought to optimize their logistics processes. The goal was to eliminate manual labor and increase flexibility in the company’s daily handling of shipments. They had considered forklifts as an alternative but recognized the need for a more flexible, safe, and efficient solution. A key criterion for this solution was the replacement of manual carts with a mobile robotic solution, which led them to consider an OMRON solution.

Brd. Klee needed a partner that could provide seamless integration between the system controller and the mobile robot. Together with Ølgod Elektro, they implemented a simple but powerful solution using an OMRON LD250 autonomous mobile robot (AMR).

The solution

The implemented solution utilizes the OMRON LD250 mobile robot equipped with CesTek’s DOX 250, which efficiently operates 10 carts (CesTek Cart 500) that are fitted with a pallet space and a handle, allowing employees to also use the carts as a manual rolling table. Brd. Klee's staff loads the carts with goods, and the LD250 automatically transports them from the warehouse to the shipping area. This straightforward solution has proven to be extremely helpful in streamlining order fulfillment operations. Brd. Klee worked closely with Ølgod Elektro and OMRON throughout the implementation process. OMRON provided the mobile robot and served as a partner for the system integrator, while CesTek played a key role by supplying the top module and carts for the robot.

Results and benefits

The implementation of OMRON's autonomous mobile robot solution, along with CesTek's accessories, had a significant impact on Brd. Klee's operational efficiency. By eliminating some of the manual and repetitive tasks, the company experienced substantial improvements in productivity and flexibility. The seamless integration between the system controller and the mobile robot proved to be a key advantage. This implementation demonstrates how a straightforward solution can be deployed in smaller units without significant investment.
