Production logistics

Fleet-managed mobile robots at VOLA

At VOLA, an automated logistics solution based on fleet-managed autonomous mobile robots has been implemented.

The solution handles the transport of components and finished goods between the company’s high-bay storage system and approximately 50 workstations in production.

The purpose of the project was to automate internal transport and create a stable and efficient material flow between warehouse and production.

Fleet management and automated material flow

The solution consists of 8 autonomous mobile robots working together in a fleet-managed setup.

The robots transport boxes of components to the workstations and return finished goods to the warehouse.

The system is based on Omron LD-60 robots, designed for internal logistics in production environments.

To integrate the robots into the production flow, CESTEK has developed and installed dual roller conveyors on the robots, enabling the robots to automatically receive and deliver products at the workstations.

The robots are equipped with CESTEK’s in-house developed dual roller conveyors, enabling automatic exchange of boxes between robot and workstation.

The system includes, among other things:

8 pcs. Omron LD-60 autonomous mobile robots
CESTEK dual roller conveyors installed on the robots
• Conveyors for receiving and picking up products at workstations
• Integration with the high-bay storage system

Each robot can:

• transport up to 60 kg
• travel at up to 1.8 m/s
• exchange boxes via the roller conveyor at 0.5 m/s

Results and benefits:

The complete solution provides a system capacity of up to 250 boxes per hour in the current setup.

The solution automates transport between warehouse and production and ensures a stable flow of components and finished goods across the factory’s workstations.
