Automated parking
Intelligent use of space in a Copenhagen property
In collaboration with Siemens, CESTEK has been involved in the development of an automated parking facility in Copenhagen. The solution is installed in the basement beneath a residential property and increases parking capacity from 9 to 24 cars.
The project is the manufacturer’s first facility of its kind and has been developed with the aim of creating a scalable solution that can be used in future projects.

Simple and user-friendly parking solution
The solution is based on an automated system in which the cars are transported down into the basement and parked without manual handling.
The user scans their access fob, drives up to the drop-off area and places the car on a pallet—much like in a car wash. The driver then confirms via a screen that the car is empty.
Once the process is approved, the car is automatically transported down into the basement via an elevator and parked safely in the facility.
A key part of the project has been to develop a solution that is reliable in operation, simple, and easy to implement.
Instead of complex robotic systems, the parking facility is based on a mechanical transport system in which pallets with cars are moved around in the basement. The system is inspired by principles from, for example, ski lifts, where pallets are pulled through the facility.
This approach makes the solution both robust and scalable, which was crucial for the project.

Results and benefits:
The automated solution makes it possible to use the basement area far more efficiently.
The result is:
• Parking capacity increased from 9 to 24 cars
• Automatic and user-friendly parking
• Efficient use of existing buildings
• A solution that can be scaled for future projects
The project demonstrates how a combination of automation solutions and simple mechanical principles can create new opportunities for space utilisation in densely built-up urban areas.
