Product description:
The GECKO Single Pad Gripper is an advanced robot gripper that uses gecko-inspired adhesive technology (van der Waals forces) to handle parts without the use of vacuum, compressed air, or mechanical fingers. The gripper is particularly well suited for flat, smooth, and fragile materials such as glass, sheet metal, solar panels, printed circuit boards, and plastic films.
The gripper operates by establishing maximum contact between the specially developed silicone pad and the workpiece surface. When the correct preload is applied, a strong yet gentle hold is achieved. The workpiece can be held for a long time—even in the event of a power failure—as long as it is correctly centered on the pad.
The GECKO Single Pad Gripper is available in several variants (SP1, SP3, and SP5), each optimized for different payloads and surface types. The system is ideal for applications where vacuum is impractical, undesirable, or impossible—for example, with porous materials, thin parts, or energy-critical installations.
The gripper requires minimal programming and can be used in both collaborative and industrial robot applications. Parts are released either via a controlled “peel motion” with the robot or via a simple mechanical fixture, depending on the application.
The GECKO Single Pad Gripper is developed for modern, flexible production environments where gentle handling, low complexity, and high operational reliability are essential.
